According to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), there are 5,01,927 LPG consumers in the district and as of June 19, the Aadhaar numbers of 4,03,258 LPG customers have been seeded amounting to nearly 80%.

During the same period, various banks have got the savings bank accounts of 3,02,934 LPG customers seeded with respective Aadhaar numbers amounting to nearly 60%.

This was disclosed by the DC Office Statistical Officer M.B. Pandey at a meeting of bank officers and representatives of various oil companies held at DC’s office here in the wake of government launching Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of LPG subsidy to customers’ bank account from July 1 in the district.

SBM Deputy General Manager Venkatanarayanan suggested the bank officers to participate in awareness camps along with representatives of oil companies to educate the rural LPG customers on DBT.

The meeting once again appealed the LPG customers to provide Aadhaar number to their LPG distributors and banks reiterating that drop boxes have been provided at all LPG distributors to provide details of customers’ bank accounts and Aadhaar numbers. Those LPG customers who have already provided the necessary details can verify the same by logging on to, and or through the concerned gas agency.
