In all, there are 758 polling booths in five Assembly constituencies in the city which include 191 hyper-sensitive, 293 sensitive and 274 general category booths and the Election Commission will be deploying Police forces including para-military personnel, who have already arrived in city, for smooth conduct of the Assembly elections scheduled for May 5.
City Police Commissioner K.L. Sudheer stated in a press release that in addition, 70 mobile squads and 24 supervisory mobile squads would be deployed on the day of polling to ensure smooth polling and added that personnel from para- military forces, KSRP and CAR would be posted around hyper-sensitive booths to ensure peaceful polling.
He also said that already 17 flying squads and 11 check post squads had been working round-the-clock to curb election malpractices and added that action had been initiated against rowdy-sheeters and anti-social elements under Sections 107 and 110 of the Cr.PC.
Stating that 37 areas in the city had been identified as vulnerable locations, the Commissioner urged citizens to contact Police Control Room on Ph: 0821-2418339 or 100.
