Parents of failed students of Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College stage protest

Parents of failed first PUC students of Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College staged a protest in front of the college in Vijayanagar here yesterday for the second time, alleging that the students had been deliberately failed.

The protest was led by P. Mal-lesh, K. Muddukrishna, Lakshmana Hoskote, ACICM Convenor M. Lakshmana and others.

The protesters alleged that the college Management refused a compromise, thus affecting the future of the students.

Sadvidya Institutions Secretary Arkanath arrived on the spot and assured the parents that special coaching would be given to the failed students. However, the parents did not budge and the matter was referred to the officers of the Education Department.

College clarifies

The Secretary of Kaveri Charitable Trust managing Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College has issued the following clarification through a press release:

"Results of first PUC annual exam was announced on Mar. 31. It was unfortunate that 47 students out of 346 who wrote the examination had failed. Year-long coaching with three preparatory examinations were conducted and results were intimated to their parents," it said.

The College management, Principal and lecturers are in no way responsible for the failure of the students, the release stated and further added, "The matter has been informed to the Deputy Director of PU Board and we would abide by his instructions.”
