During Dasara, the palace is illuminated from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM on the first eight days (22nd Sep to 02nd Oct 2025) and from 07:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Vijayadashami Day (02nd October 2025) with 97,000 incandescent lamps, amplifying its majesty and beauty. The Dasara exhibition starts during the Mysore Dasara and continues for around two months at the Doddakere Maidan opposite the Mysore Palace. The main attraction of the procession is the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, carried in a golden howdah weighing over 750 kg on top of an elephant. The procession features dancers, musical bands from the State Police, folk dancers, decorated elephants, horses, camels, and colorful tableaux created by different State organizations.
Torchlight Parade (Panjina Kavayatthu)
The culminating program of the Dasara festivities is the Panjina Kavayatthu (torch-light parade) held grandly at the Bannimantap grounds. The event includes fireworks, daredevil stunts on motorcycles by the Indian army, and a laser show.
